Bakhtiyor Saidov speaks with Taliban Minister

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held a phone conversation today, November 2, with Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan’s interim Taliban government. The minister reported this on his social media pages.

“During our conversation, we exchanged views on the bilateral agenda and regional developments. We reaffirmed our mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation and ensuring peace and stability in the region,” the Uzbek foreign minister wrote.

It was noted that dialogue and diplomacy are the most effective means of finding solutions to existing challenges and fostering mutual understanding.

According to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi emphasized that the Afghan government prioritizes diplomacy and understanding in the region. He stated that Afghanistan seeks to establish relations with all neighboring countries based on mutual respect, non-interference, and constructive engagement. He also highlighted the importance of developing positive relations with regional countries such as Uzbekistan and stressed the need to strengthen an atmosphere of understanding, economic cooperation, and mutual trust rather than interference.
