Bukhara to host center dedicated to Naqshbandi scholarship

1841A Bahouddin Naqshband Scientific Research Center will be founded in the Bukhara region, as outlined in the presidential decree issued on April 21. The decree, titled “Measures to Strengthen Citizens’ Freedom of Conscience and Advance Religious-Educational Reforms to a New Level,” emphasizes the importance of scientific research on Bahouddin Naqshband and the Naqshbandi school of thought.
One of the center’s main objectives will be to study and promote the humanitarian ideals of Naqshbandi scholars through scientific research. Additionally, the Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center will be transferred under the jurisdiction of the Cabinet of Ministers, making it an institution dedicated to Islamic studies and religious analysis.
The decree also establishes a Council for the Coordination of Religious-Educational Activities, which will oversee and align scientific and educational efforts across several major institutions, including:
- The Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan;
- Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center;
- Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center;
- Uzbekistan International Academy of Islamic Studies;
- Other religious and educational organizations.
Furthermore, the Council on Religious Affairs will be restructured, incorporating political figures, community leaders, religious scholars, and experts as observers.
