41545A video showing boxer Shahram Giyasov training with a bear has been circulating on social media, prompting objections from online users. In response, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change has stated the situation.
The ministry has indicated that it is currently investigating the incident. Once the investigation is complete, detailed information will be provided, and legal action will be taken against those responsible.
It is important to note that, according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Measures to Improve the Procedure for Keeping Wild Animals," a new regulation will come into effect on January 1, 2025. This regulation includes a list of wild animals prohibited from being kept by individuals in semi-free conditions, artificially created habitats, or captivity. Among these animals are all species of bears, making it illegal to keep bears in state or mobile circuses (tents) and use them for circus performances.
The ministry’s response comes shortly after an incident in the Kashkadarya region, where a man illegally kept two ostriches, resulting in damage to nature valued at over 1.5 billion UZS.
