Gas company employee detained with bribe in Andijan

An employee of a gas supply company was detained while receiving 3 million soums from a citizen in Oltinkol district of Andijan region. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported this.

According to the report, H.I., an employee of Oltinkoltumangaz, was detained during an operation carried out by the department’s Oltinkol district branch in cooperation with the compliance service of Hududgaz Andijan and other law enforcement agencies.

It was established that he told citizen F.P. that although there was no debt for natural gas at the citizen’s home, an alleged debt of 8 million soums had arisen due to a malfunction of the gas meter. He then demanded 3 million soums in exchange for removing the debt without drawing up an official report.

The gas supply company employee was detained with physical evidence while receiving the 3 million soums. A criminal case has been opened under Article 168 of the Criminal Code, fraud, and investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, it was reported that the deputy prosecutor of Urgut district in Samarkand region had been detained with bribes totaling nearly $24,000.
