In a tragic incident that unfolded in the Boston district of Andijan region, a husband intentionally killed his wife by brutally striking her on the head with an iron pipe. The press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, Hayat Shamsutdinov, shared this distressing news with QALAMPIR.UZ.

The incident took place in the early hours of June 12, at approximately 1:30 a.m., involving a resident identified as I.A., born in 1971, who resided in the "Nurafshon" neighborhood of the Boston district. According to reports, I.A. engaged in a heated argument with his wife, M.A., stemming from ongoing familial disputes. Unfortunately, the dispute escalated, leading I.A. to repeatedly strike his wife on the head with an iron pipe, causing her untimely death. However, overwhelmed with remorse, I.A. subsequently presented himself to the District Internal Affairs Department at 4:00 a.m.

In response to this grave situation, the Boston district prosecutor has initiated a criminal case against I.A. under Article 97, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Consequently, I.A. has been apprehended in accordance with Article 221 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

This incident follows a distressing pattern of domestic violence incidents within Uzbekistan. In the Beshariq district of Fergana province, a husband recently strangled his wife, while in Bukhara, another man fatally stabbed his spouse. Moreover, in Namangan, a husband tragically ended his wife's life before taking his own.

The surge in such acts of violence highlights the pressing need for comprehensive efforts to address domestic disputes and prevent these tragic outcomes.
