On 3 December, in the Shahrikhan district of Andijan Region, the district governor, Hikmatillo Dadakhanov, oversaw an ecological raid during which tandoors at local eateries were destroyed. The Andijan regional administration has commented on the incident.
Initially, information about the ecological inspection was posted on the Shahrikhan district administration’s Telegram channel, but the post was later removed.
“Under the directive of the Andijan regional governor, a working group has been conducting continuous inspections in Shahrikhan district to prevent air pollution and ensure environmental sustainability. Early this morning, inspections targeted establishments contributing to air pollution, and strict measures were taken to temporarily suspend the activities of eateries and public service facilities that failed to meet requirements,” the district administration reported.
The regional administration confirmed that the governor was disciplined following the incident.
“Videos circulating on social media show tandoors at eateries damaged during the raid conducted by a working group tasked with preventing air pollution and ensuring environmental sustainability in Shahrixon district. This occurred under the instruction of the district governor. The situation was promptly reviewed, and as a disciplinary measure, the district governor received a formal reprimand,” the administration stated.

Authorities have conducted awareness campaigns to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Business Ombudsman also commented on the case, noting that while implementing measures to improve the ecological situation, there have been reports of damage to the lawful property of entrepreneurs in some areas.
According to the Law “On Guarantees of Freedom of Entrepreneurial Activity,” private property is inviolable and protected by the state, like other forms of property. Termination of a business or actions against its property can only be carried out by authorized bodies or pursuant to a court decision.
“Authorized state bodies are therefore urged to ensure the legal rights and property of business entities are protected, to prevent violations of private property, and to carry out any measures strictly according to current legislation,” the ombudsman’s statement said.
It is worth noting that previously, in Buvayda district of Fergana Region, the deputy district governor, Saidali Khizirov, reportedly used force against a National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change inspector, leading to his removal from office and the initiation of a criminal case.
