7826As part of the "Cleaning" (Tozalash) operation, law enforcement in Andijan has detained a suspect involved in a violent home invasion that took place nearly 11 years ago. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the arrest, which was made under the direct order of the Minister.
According to the ministry, the crime occurred on May 21, 2014, when two masked individuals broke into a home in the Bayrak neighborhood of Shahrikhan district in the middle of the night. Armed with a hunting rifle and a knife, the intruders attacked the homeowner and his family, demanding money and threatening to kill them if they reported the incident. The criminals also destroyed the victim’s Nokia phone before fleeing.
After 11 years, investigators identified the perpetrators as two men born in 1990 and 1993. One of them has been arrested, while the other remains at large. Authorities also seized a 16-caliber double-barreled shotgun, which was used in the robbery, as evidence.
During an operation in Khojaabad district, police stopped a Lacetti car driven by a man born in 1984. A search of the vehicle uncovered 2 kilograms of hashish, leading to the driver's arrest.
Additionally, authorities identified an individual running an illegal marijuana farm. The suspect had set up a cold storage system for marijuana cultivation inside an apartment and illegally connected it to the electricity grid, bypassing the district electricity network enterprise. According to preliminary estimates, this unauthorized connection resulted in 1.2 billion soums in damages to state resources.
It should be recalled that similar operations under the "Cleaning" campaign were recently conducted in the Fergana region, where individuals involved in drug trafficking were also detained on February 16.
