Today, October 27, the election of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local councils is taking place.

Polling stations opened at 08:00 local time, allowing voters to begin casting their ballots. During the election, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, visited the 520th polling station in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent with his family members and participated in the voting process.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Farhod Ermanov, attended the 83rd polling station in the "Kumbiz Ovul" neighborhood area of Nukus city to cast his vote.

Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov visited the 531st polling station in the Yunusabad district and voted in the elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the Council of People's Deputies.

Additionally, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov took part in the voting process.

Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Norboyeva, along with her family, visited the 576th polling station in the capital. The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nuriddin Ismailov, went to the 32nd polling station in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent.

Moreover, governors from various regions participated in the voting, including Andijan region governor Shuhrat Abdurakhmanov, Syrdarya region governor Akmal Mahmudaliev, Samarkand region governor Erkinjon Turdimov, Surkhandarya region governor Ulugbek Kasimov, Navoi region governor Normat Tursunov, Tashkent region governor Zoir Mirzayev, Kashkadarya region governor Murodjon Azimov, and Bukhara region Mayor Botir Zaripov.

For information, the elections for the Legislative Chamber are being held for the first time under the majoritarian-proportional (mixed) system. In this system, constituencies are divided into single-mandate and multi-mandate constituencies. Seventy-five deputies of the lower house of parliament are elected by a majority system (voting for a candidate) in single-mandate constituencies, while the remaining seventy-five are elected through a proportional system based on the votes given to political parties (according to party lists).

According to the Central Election Commission, a total of 851 foreign (international) observers are monitoring the parliamentary election, including representatives from thirteen prestigious international organizations, such as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Turkic States, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and others. Additionally, 46 observers from 24 foreign election bodies and 245 observers from 43 countries have been accredited.

Currently, there are 55,000 observers from political parties and over 10,000 observers from citizens' self-government bodies monitoring the election process.

A total of 1,068 representatives from local and foreign mass media have also been accredited.

Voting will continue until 20:00.
