20060Earlier, Sergei Mironov, chairman of the "Just Russia – For Truth" (Spravedlivaya Rossiya – za pravdu, SRZP) party in Russia, criticized Uzbekistan's warning against recruiting its citizens for military service in Russia. He questioned why migrants should not defend the country that "supports" them and stated that Russia does not need such migrants. In response, Alisher Kadyrov, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and chairman of the "Milliy Tiklanish" Democratic Party, stated that Mironov and his relatives should defend Russia themselves. Kadyrov shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter).
"Uzbeks are a proud nation who earn their rights through hard work, not through killing others. It is Mironov, along with his sons, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, who should be protecting Russia. As far as I know, Russians also consider defending their homeland a sacred duty, just as Uzbeks do," Kadyrov wrote.
Mironov had previously suggested introducing a visa regime for Uzbek migrants, claiming that this would solve the issue.
As a reminder, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan has reiterated its warning to Uzbek citizens against participating in foreign military conflicts. According to Uzbekistan’s citizenship law, any citizen serving in a foreign military may have their citizenship revoked following a decree from the President of Uzbekistan.
The consulate also emphasized that under Article 154 of the Uzbek Criminal Code, illegal participation in armed conflicts or military operations abroad is a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
