The expenses related to returning the bodies of Uzbek citizens who die while working abroad will now be covered by the state. This provision has been established through an amendment to the Law “On Burial and Funeral Services,” introduced as part of changes and additions to certain legislative acts of Uzbekistan.

Under the new rules, the costs of organizing the return of deceased citizens during labor migration will be covered by the Migration Fund. The funds will be allocated through the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers according to established procedures.

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on July 1, 2025, and approved by the Senate on September 4, 2025.

Officials noted that this measure is aimed at protecting the rights and legal interests of citizens working abroad and relieving their families from excessive financial burdens.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the body of an Uzbek woman who tragically died in Turkey was repatriated to Uzbekistan along with her two children.
