Earlier reports said that the headless body of an Uzbek woman had been found in Istanbul, Turkey. With the assistance of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Istanbul, the body of the deceased, Durdona Hakimova, along with her two children, has been returned to Uzbekistan, the consulate reported.
According to the statement, all expenses related to the return of the deceased and her children to Uzbekistan were covered by the Consulate General and the Migration Agency.
“Unfortunately, one-sided, negative, and dignity-damaging comments about the deceased are being circulated on social media in connection with this incident,” the statement said.
The Consulate General reported that Durdona Hakimova was the founder of a military clothing store called “Eskeri Melzeme,” located in Istanbul’s Fatih district. She was described as an active entrepreneur who had provided assistance to many Uzbek citizens. Her children were studying at a lyceum specializing in design.
“We would like to remind that spreading one-sided, biased, and defamatory information about our compatriot without fully studying the situation, as well as posting insulting comments, may result in legal liability. Moreover, such actions can contribute to the formation of negative perceptions about our nation on the international stage,” the statement noted.
It is also reported that two citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan have been detained in connection with the incident. They were apprehended while attempting to flee from Turkey to Georgia by air.
Diplomats from the Consulate General have established contact with the deceased’s family members and provided them with the necessary consular and legal assistance.
