7502On the evening of September 30, a fire erupted at Tashkent State Agrarian University, completely destroying the nine-story Faculty of Agrologistics and Business building and causing significant damage to the Forestry Agency under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire engulfed an area of 2,400 square meters. Efforts by responders managed to save 1,000 square meters. A total of 27 units of equipment and approximately 200 personnel were involved in extinguishing the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Nearly two months later, QALAMPIR.UZ revisited the site to document the developments following the fire.
The university’s press service head, Zarnigor Sodikova, shared updates with QALAMPIR.UZ, confirming that the damaged nine-story building has been completely demolished. In its place, a new five-story educational facility with a capacity of 1,200 students is being constructed.
"A new five-story educational building with the same capacity as the previous nine-story structure is under construction, accommodating 1,200 students," Sodikova stated.
Additionally, the Forestry Agency building, which sustained severe damage, is being transferred to the Agrarian University to be repurposed as an educational facility. Reconstruction work on the site is actively underway.
Another educational building that was 70% damaged is also being reconstructed. The government has proposed several program projects for the rehabilitation process.
Sodikova noted that details regarding the total material damage and the budget allocation for reconstruction efforts are currently unavailable.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Violation of fire safety regulations) in connection with this incident.
