The Judicial Authority of the Presidential Candidate from “Adolat” SDP is Suspended

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan has announced that the Judicial powers of Robakhon Makhmudova, who was nominated as a presidential candidate from the "Adolat" SDP, have been suspended as of today, 12th of May.

According to the law, judges are not permitted to engage in political activities.  Therefore, the Supreme Qualification Board of Judges has made the decision to suspend the judicial powers of R.A. Makhmudova, who serves as the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan and chairman of the administrative trial board, in accordance with the application of R.A Makhmudova and the court legislation.

It is important to note that Articles 19 and 128 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan guarantee equal rights to all citizens, regardless of their gender, race, nationality, language, religion, belief, social origin, or social status.  Citizens have the right to vote and to be elected to state authorities.

We would like to remind you that yesterday, the 11th of May, Abdushukur Khudoykulovich Hamzayev submitted his candidacy for the presidency from the Ecological Party.  Today, on the 12th of May, Ulugbek Ilyasovich Inoyatov from the People's Democratic Party and Robakhon Mahmudova Anvarovna from the Social Democratic Party "Adolat" have been approved for consideration at the parties' Congress.
