Recently, a doctor who received a bribe of 500,000 from social networks was imprisoned for 5 years, and the governor, who stole public money, was imprisoned for 1 year.  Many people considered these court decisions to be unfair.  On 28 March of this year, an open dialogue with media representatives was organized under the leadership of the Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov.  During this dialogue, he explained the above situation by giving information about the level of social justice of punishment for crimes.

"The doctor who took a bribe of 500,000 was imprisoned for 5 years, and Mansur Alikhanov, the former governor of Asaka district, was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months of imprisonment by the court.  A criminal case was opened against him for the robbery of state property by strata.  A person who received a bribe of 500,000 is given 5 years, while an official who embezzled a large amount of state property is given a shorter term.  Doesn't this create intolerance towards the court and legislation in the society?" asked a journalist at this conference.

Answering this question, the minister mentioned that sanctions are defined for each crime according to the qualification of crimes.

"The court works within the framework of sanctions.  Even if the crime of bribery is a small amount, we have a higher sanction.  Imagine that one doctor says that he will not operate unless you bring 100,000 soms.  The consequences are higher, that's why the laws set such a higher penalty.  The impact on society is huge.  From this point of view, it is necessary to understand each article correctly," the minister answered.

Also, Tashkulov responded to another journalist's suggestion that the prisons be taken from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and transferred to the Ministry of Justice, saying that this system had already been formed and that it would be difficult to change it.

It should be recalled that Mansurjon Alikhanov, who served as the governor of the Asaka district, was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment, not 1 year and 3 months.  Alikhanov filed an appeal against the court's decision.
