6813The Ministry of Justice has issued a warning to the Ministry of Health regarding the registration of several medications without adhering to intellectual property rights. This was reported by the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice.
The Ministry of Justice's investigation revealed that, in 2023, there were 21 instances of drug registrations that violated intellectual property rights, with an additional 16 cases identified in 2024.
Specifically, counterfeit versions of well-known medications such as "Magne B6," "Imudon," "Smecta," "Duspatalin," and "Elevit" were registered under various names and pharmaceutical companies. These include "Grand Imudon," "Mer Duspatalin," and "Elemalvit," all of which were registered without respecting intellectual property regulations.
In response to these violations, the Ministry of Health has been formally notified and warned to implement comprehensive measures to prevent infringements of legal requirements concerning the state registration of drugs, medical products, and medical equipment. The warning indicated that repeated violations could result in penalties as stipulated by law.
According to the Law on Medicines and Pharmaceutical Activities, the Ministry of Health is responsible for the state registration of medicines, medical devices, and medical equipment. The production of counterfeit or illegal copies of registered medications in Uzbekistan is strictly prohibited.
It is worth noting that earlier, in the Namangan region, corrective measures were taken against a company that produced counterfeit versions of soda packaging originating from Russia.
