In the coming year, based on Chinese experience, 107 megawatts of solar power capacity will be installed across 300 neighborhoods in Uzbekistan through cooperative partnerships with local residents. This was announced on December 5, during a ceremonial event attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated to launching new energy capacities and initiating construction of upcoming projects.
As part of this large-scale social initiative, 30,000 low-income families will gain access to green energy. They will also be able to supply surplus electricity to the grid and earn additional income.
Entrepreneurs have also made efficient use of water resources, building small and micro hydropower plants with a total capacity of 40 megawatts this year. As a result, 120 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated, providing them with an extra source of income.
Next year, small and micro hydropower plants with a capacity of 65 megawatts will be constructed. These projects are expected to significantly improve electricity supply for 80,000 households.
