Woman caught in $30,000 blackmail scheme against her ex-boyfriend in Bukhara

A woman in the Bukhara region allegedly demanded $30,000 from her ex-boyfriend in exchange for keeping their affair secret, according to the regional Department of Internal Affairs.
Authorities report that the woman, born in 1991 and a resident of the Valfajir rural municipality in Peshku district, had been in a romantic relationship since 2019 with a man born in 1994, who resides in the Charimgaron rural municipality in Vobkent district. She allegedly threatened to expose private messages and photos to his close relatives or publicly humiliate him on social media unless he paid the sum.
During an operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Department of the Bukhara regional police on January 24, she was caught receiving $10,000 of the demanded amount.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 165 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.
Earlier, a similar case was reported in the city of Bukhara, where a 19-year-old woman was detained for allegedly threatening to release a video of her affair with her boyfriend to his family members while demanding $5,000.
