3751In a series of coordinated operations, authorities have seized large quantities of narcotics smuggled from the Republic of Tajikistan across several regions of Uzbekistan, including Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Khorezm, and Tashkent city. The State Security Service reported the successful detection and confiscation of heroin, mephedrone, opium, and hashish.
A significant bust occurred in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent city, where a quick operation led to the discovery of 1 kilogram 995 grams of heroin, 143 grams of mephedrone, and 3 liters of liquid mephedrone, along with packaging materials and electronic scales. These drugs were found at the temporary residence of a man born in 1996, from the Navoi region. Additionally, 1 kilogram 296 grams of mephedrone was seized from six hidden "stashes" in the Upper Chirchik district of Tashkent region, meant for distribution.
The drugs were smuggled into Uzbekistan from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan by organized drug dealers. In another operation, a car traveling on the Samarkand-Tashkent route was stopped at the Syrdarya police station, leading to the discovery of 1 kilogram 641 grams of hashish in possession of a former drug addict from the Zangiota district.
He had purchased the drugs for 10,000 US dollars from a known drug trafficker in Urgut district, Samarkand region.
In the Syrdarya region, a person from the Bekobod district, Tashkent region, was arrested with 901 grams of opium imported from Tajikistan, which he was selling for 8,000 US dollars. In the Kashkadarya region, authorities stopped a Lacetti car at a police checkpoint in Kokdala district, uncovering 265 grams of opium and 1 kilogram of hashish hidden under the back seat. The drugs had been smuggled from Tajikistan.
The Khorezm region also saw a major drug bust when a 1964-born resident of the Urgut district, previously convicted twice for drug trafficking, was arrested in Urganch City with 989 grams of opium. In a separate case, a vehicle traveling on the Surkhondarya-Khorezm route was stopped in Tuproqkala district, where 993 grams of hashish were discovered in the possession of a man from the Denov district and his son.
As a result of these actions, criminal cases have been initiated, and all suspects have been placed under arrest pending investigation. Authorities have vowed to continue their efforts in combating drug trafficking and its harmful effects on society.
This follows an earlier arrest of a man who had planned to purchase 6,500 US dollars' worth of narcotics from Tajikistan for sale in the Khorezm region.
