A father and his three children tragically lost their lives due to carbon monoxide poisoning in the Kashkadarya region, reported Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, to QALAMPIR.UZ.

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 15:40, B.T., a 45-year-old male resident of the "Kunchikar" residential complex in Karshi city, along with his children—T.A. (a boy, born in 2006), S.A. (a girl, born in 2008), and M.A. (a girl, born in 2014)—were found dead in their apartment. The cause of death was traced to carbon monoxide poisoning stemming from a malfunction in the heating system.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the carbon monoxide leak occurred from the chimney section that was meant to expel the burnt gases of a modern heating boiler. The heating unit, which was located in the basement, was connected to the common air intake chimney, allowing the dangerous gas to infiltrate the apartment.

The Karshi city prosecutor's office is currently conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.

This tragic event follows a similar occurrence earlier this year when a couple in the Asaka district of the Andijan region died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a homemade coal-fired heating stove.
