Violations have been identified in public procurements worth more than 23 billion soums in Uzbekistan, and appropriate measures have been taken against the organizations involved and their officials. This was reported by the press service of the Competition Committee.
As a result of studies conducted by the committee, violations of Article 29 of the Law “On Competition” were identified in the following tender procedures:
- six tenders worth more than 9.1 billion soums held by the Youth Affairs Agency;
- six tenders worth nearly 8 billion soums held by the Agency for Innovative Development;
- 10 tenders worth nearly 6.7 billion soums held by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
The violations involved actions that restricted or could have led to restrictions on competition during the bidding process.
Based on these findings, the committee’s Special Commission opened cases against the contracting organizations over signs of violations of the Law “On Competition.” Mandatory instructions were issued to eliminate the violations and prevent their recurrence.
Administrative liability measures were also established against officials of the contracting organizations, and relevant materials were sent to the courts.
It is worth noting that violations were earlier identified in nine public procurements worth a total of 16.4 billion soums conducted by various state organizations in Uzbekistan.
