Energy theft in Uzbekistan reaches 1.4 trillion soums in 2024

1200In 2024, Uzbekistan recorded 8,289 cases of illegal use of natural gas and electricity, resulting in financial losses amounting to 1 trillion 409 billion soums. This was announced by the press service of "Uzenergoinspeksiya."
The breakdown of the stolen energy resources revealed 730.1 billion soums worth of electricity siphoned off from 91 mines, 184 gas filling stations (AGTKSH), and 1,422 water pumps. Additionally, 679.1 billion soums of natural gas were illegally consumed by 57 gas stations, 64 greenhouses, and 5 lime production workshops.
As part of the crackdown, licenses for 51 gas compressor stations involved in violations were revoked.
Furthermore, authorities opened 9,084 administrative cases against consumers found breaching energy usage regulations.
Inspections of petroleum product quality uncovered 5 million 348 thousand liters of substandard fuel in 189 cases across gas stations and enterprises. The sale of these low-quality petroleum products was successfully prevented.
To promote the efficient use of energy resources, preventive measures were undertaken for 47,396 consumers.
In a related development, "Uzenergoinspeksiya" reported identifying 1,614 cases of illegal natural gas and electricity usage in November alone.
