In 2023, the state budget of Uzbekistan experienced illegal spending amounting to 1.2 trillion soums, along with deficits and thefts totaling 200 billion soums. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video selectors meeting on January 16, where these issues were disclosed.

Approximately 10 billion soums were unlawfully taken from the salaries of 110 individuals who were falsely listed as employees at the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute.

Furthermore, companies under the "Uniform customer service" in Namangan, Surkhandarya, and Fergana regions falsely reported 50 billion soums worth of uncompleted projects across 18 entities.

The Sergeli Development Department made payments of 4.3 billion soums to individuals who did not contribute any actual work.

A sum of 3 billion soums in cash and 1.5 billion soums were illicitly misappropriated by the accountant of the Qoshrabot education department through a plastic card.

Additionally, the management of "Uzgidromet" irrationally borrowed 1.3 billion soums from extra-budgetary funds and excessively awarded themselves multiple times.

Notably, investigations will be conducted into instances where heads of state organizations awarded themselves financial incentives without valid reasons, and the funds will be returned to the budget.
