Mirziyoyev meets with Russian Defense Minister to strengthen military ties

2749On January 22, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrey Belousov, who is visiting Uzbekistan. This was reported by the President's press service.
At the outset of the meeting, the Russian Defense Minister conveyed greetings and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the leader of Uzbekistan.
The discussions centered on further developing and strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Russia. Particular emphasis was placed on implementing the agreements reached during President Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan in May 2024.
The importance of expanding cooperation between the defense ministries of both nations, in line with the adopted program and planning documents, was underscored. This includes enhancing military collaboration and ensuring effective implementation of joint initiatives.
Earlier in Tashkent, the defense ministries of Uzbekistan and Russia signed a cooperation plan for 2025 and a strategic partnership program for 2026-2030 in the military field. These agreements aim to bolster bilateral ties and pave the way for long-term collaboration.
President Mirziyoyev reiterated Uzbekistan’s commitment to advancing military and defense relations with Russia, recognizing their role in ensuring regional stability and security.
