From February 1, 2026, the use of vehicles that are more than 50 years old will be prohibited, and such vehicles will be removed from the state register. This is stipulated in Government Resolution No. 11 dated February 20, titled “On Additional Measures to Digitize the Road Safety Sector.”
According to the resolution, the “Administrative Practice” module of the Traffic Safety Service information system under the Public Security Department will be integrated with the information systems of relevant ministries and agencies.
Starting from February 1, 2026, special series state registration plates will be introduced for cargo vehicles with a total weight (including load) exceeding 44 tonnes, special-purpose vehicles used in mines, shafts, and quarries, route-free taxis owned by legal entities, as well as “antique” motor vehicles.
At the same time, the use and re-registration of vehicles that are 50 years old or older will be prohibited, and such vehicles will be deregistered from the state registry.
The requirement to indicate the owner’s address on motor vehicle registration certificates will be abolished.
When registering motor vehicles with the state, the following documents will be obtained from authorized bodies through interagency electronic data exchange:
– motor vehicle purchase and sale agreements;
– auction protocols issued by the Electronic Online Auctions Organization JSC;
– electronic invoices issued for motor vehicles produced by enterprises with state ownership;
– information about the motor vehicle owner.
It is worth noting that earlier reports said the state may introduce support measures to replace outdated vehicles with newer ones or to install filters on older vehicles.
