From now on, light and cargo vehicles (M and N categories) imported into Uzbekistan will not require an environmental certificate. This is stipulated in the government resolution no. 597, ’’On measures to further improve the system for assessing the compliance of wheeled vehicles with environmental category requirements.’’
According to the resolution, the compliance of vehicles with environmental requirements will be assessed based on the general technical regulations ’’On the safety of wheeled vehicles,’’ approved by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
- Category M – vehicles designed for passenger transportation (cars, buses, and minibuses).
- Category N – vehicles designed for cargo transportation (trucks and chassis).
Under this amendment, it must be confirmed, either through vehicle documentation or laboratory testing, that the car meets at least the ’’Euro-4’’ standard. Vehicles below the ’’Euro-4’’ level will not be permitted.
To verify compliance with the environmental category, the applicant must submit one of the following documents:
- A legal act from the manufacturing country indicating that the production of vehicles below the ’’Euro-4’’ standard is prohibited;
- An official letter from the manufacturer or its representative confirming that the vehicle complies with at least the ’’Euro-4’’ standard;
- Other relevant technical documents.
At the same time, vehicles equipped with electric engines are exempt from environmental assessment (hybrids are not included in this exemption).
In other words, under the new procedure, obtaining an environmental certificate for vehicles is no longer required, but they must still meet at least the ’’Euro-4’’ standard.
It is worth noting that earlier, the deadline for introducing the ’’Ecological transport’’ system aimed at reducing pollutant emissions from vehicles was extended until January 1, 2026.
