Drivers will be given penalty points for violations of traffic rules from December 1

As of 1 December this year, a penalty point system will be introduced to prevent the violations of the traffic rules by the drivers, to ensure unconditional compliance with the traffic rules and prevent repeated violations. This is stated in the Decision of the President of Uzbekistan «On measures to ensure reliable safety of people on the roads and a sharp reduction in mortality».

The system points out:
- the calculation of separate penalty points for 12 months for each traffic violation;
- if the penalty points accrued exceed the specified amount, the driver shall be disqualified from the right to drive for a specified period in accordance with the established regulation;
- drivers who have not committed a traffic violation within a certain period of time will be rewarded with a reduction in penalty points.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (Bobojonov P.R.), the Ministry of Justice (Davletov R.K.) will submit a bill within a month on the introduction of a penalty point system for drivers for traffic violations, taking into account the advanced foreign experience.
