On March 24, the body of a 2-year-old boy was discovered in a ditch flowing through the Kurgancha mahalla in the Besharik district of the Fergana region. The regional police department confirmed this information to QALAMPIR.UZ.

According to reports, the Besharik district prosecutor’s office received a notification from the district police department at 21:00 on March 24 about an unidentified male child, approximately 1-2 years old, found in a local ditch near the Nasibabonu Bogy Rohat farm in the Kurgancha district.

Following the report, an investigative team examined the scene using forensic equipment and documented all necessary procedural actions.

A preliminary conclusion from the Kokand interdistrict department of the RSTEIAMFF, issued on March 25, found no injuries on the child’s body. The cause of death was determined to be "mechanical asphyxia due to water blocking the respiratory tract."

Efforts to identify the deceased child have so far been unsuccessful. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the nearest internal affairs agency or call the 102 emergency number.

It is worth recalling that a similar tragic incident occurred earlier in Namangan, where a mother threw herself into a canal with her one- and three-year-old children. Fortunately, passing citizens managed to rescue the children, but the mother’s body was later recovered from the North Fergana Canal.
