Uzbekistan Football Association elects Bakhodir Kurbanov as a new president

5064Bakhodir Kurbanov, Chairman of the State Security Service, has been elected president of the Football Association of Uzbekistan (UFA). The decision was made today, February 22, during an extraordinary election congress held at the UFA headquarters.
At the congress, the election of a new president was put to a vote, and Kurbanov was unanimously elected to the position. Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov also attended the event.
For reference, the UFA presidency was previously held by Abdusalom Azizov, the former head of the State Security Service. Last month, Ravshan Ermatov, the first vice president of the association, had been serving as acting president.
