Reports have recently circulated on social media alleging that a child was violently beaten by Internal Affairs officers in the Arnasay district of the Jizzakh region. The Jizzakh Regional Department of Internal Affairs has issued a statement in response to the claims.

According to the official statement, on May 5, the district's security department received a call regarding a disturbance at a food stall in the Arnasay district. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that a citizen, who appeared to be intoxicated, had refused to pay for his food and was involved in a dispute with several people in the courtyard of the establishment.

When the individual refused to leave the premises despite being asked to do so, the Internal Affairs authorities were notified again. Officers responded to the call, and after repeated requests for the individual to leave were ignored, they handcuffed him with the assistance of a colleague and escorted him to a narcology dispensary.

The Arnasay District Prosecutor’s Office has since launched a pre-investigation inquiry into the incident.

It is worth recalling that on January 3, a serviceman from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Karakalpakstan stabbed five individuals in the city of Nukus.
