Three Uzbek boxers take first place in updated WBA rankings

12482According to the World Boxing Association (WBA) rankings for September, three Uzbek boxers have secured first place in their respective weight categories. The press service of the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan reported this.
As in the previous month, eight boxers from Uzbekistan are featured in the rankings, with three holding the top spot in their divisions. Botyr Akhmedov, listed as representing Ukraine on the WBA official website, dropped from 13th to 15th place.
Meanwhile, Otabek Kholmatov and Bektemir Melikuziev have both risen one spot in the rankings. In contrast, Raymond Ford, the only boxer to have handed Otabek his sole career defeat, fell to 5th place.
Here are the Uzbek boxers in the latest WBA rankings:
- Hasanboy Dusmatov (Minimum Weight) – 1st place (same as last month)
- Murodjon Akhmadaliev (Super Bantamweight) – 1st place (same as last month)
- Muhammad Shekhov (Super Bantamweight) – 10th place (same as last month)
- Otabek Kholmatov (Featherweight) – 4th place (up from 5th last month)
- Botir Akhmedov (Super Lightweight) – 15th place (down from 13th last month)
- Shakhram Giyasov (Welterweight) – 1st place (same as last month)
- Isroil Madrimov (Super Welterweight) – 3rd place (same as last month)
- Bektemir Melikuziev (Super Middleweight) – 5th place (up from 6th last month)
Additionally, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) rankings were also announced earlier. In the WBO rankings, Shakhram Giyasov leads in his weight class.
