Uzbekistan ranked 124th out of 182 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2025, falling three positions compared with the previous year, according to a report released on February 10 by Transparency International.

Uzbekistan scored 31 points on a 100-point scale, down from 32 points last year. In the index, a score of 0 indicates very high corruption, while 100 indicates very low corruption.

According to the organization, corruption levels worldwide continue to rise. Even countries such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand and several European states saw their scores decline.

The global average score in 2025 was 42 points, the lowest result in more than a decade. More than two-thirds of countries scored below 50 points.

Denmark has maintained the top position for eight consecutive years with 89 points, followed by Finland with 88 and Singapore with 84. South Sudan, Somalia and Venezuela ranked at the bottom of the index.

Russia ranked 157th with 22 points. Among Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan ranked 96th, Kyrgyzstan 142nd, Tajikistan 166th, Turkmenistan 167th and Afghanistan 169th.

Uzbekistan previously ranked 121st in both 2023 and 2024, and 126th the year before.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would introduce protection orders for individuals who report corruption.
