Steady growth: Uzbekistan’s population at 37.7 million in 2025

As of April 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s permanent population has reached 37.7 million people, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Compared to the same period in 2024, this figure represents a 2% increase.

  • Rural Areas: 18.48 million

Previously, it was reported that Uzbekistan’s population grew by 33.1 million since 1920, when it stood at 4.4 million. In November last year, the permanent population exceeded 37.5 million, reaching 37,506,617 people.

Experts predict that Uzbekistan’s population will reach 40 million by 2030, accounting for half of Central Asia’s population. Over the past 30 years, Uzbekistan’s population has grown by 15 million, demonstrating stable demographic dynamics. The average life expectancy in Uzbekistan is 74.3 years.
