A Centrum Air aircraft was struck by lightning while operating flight C6089 from Tashkent to Urgench on May 19, the airline reported.
The Airbus A330 originally assigned to the flight was sent for technical maintenance after being struck by lightning, which caused delays to several subsequent flights operated by the airline.
To operate flight C6089 according to schedule, the airline decided to replace the aircraft with a smaller-capacity Airbus A320. As a result, 40 passengers were unable to board the flight.
Passengers were immediately offered a choice between a full ticket refund or rebooking on the nearest available flight, including flights operated by other carriers. Passengers who had to wait for a long time were accommodated in a hotel at the airline’s expense.
Earlier, a Centrum Air flight on the Tashkent-Guangzhou-Tashkent route was also delayed after the aircraft was struck by lightning.
