On April 16, a person was detained while attempting to smuggle more than 1 kilogram of jewelry from Tashkent International Airport to Istanbul, Turkey. The incident was reported by the Tashkent-Aero specialized customs complex.

According to the report, the jewelry—discovered through the joint efforts of special officers—was valued at over 819 million sums.

An investigation into the case has been launched.

It is worth noting that in March of this year, another individual was detained at Bukhara International Airport for attempting to illegally export jewelry made of precious metals and cultural artifacts. That person was caught trying to smuggle 37 pieces of jewelry weighing 226.04 grams, along with 16 historical badges and coins, out of the country.
