An investigator from the Internal Affairs Department in Tashkent's Bektemir district has been sentenced for accepting a bribe. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the court documents.
According to the report, the investigator was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of $500 from a woman charged with a crime. In exchange, he promised not to apply the "detention" measure and instead apply the "bail" measure.
During the court session, the defendant denied the charges.
The defendant claimed that the woman gave him $500 as a gesture of gratitude for handling her case promptly within the legal framework.
The Mirzo Ulugbek District Criminal Court found the investigator guilty of the crime outlined in Article 210 (bribery) Part 1 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to two years in prison and disqualified from working in the Internal Affairs system for three years.
Earlier, two officials in Khorezm and Fergana regions were caught accepting bribes during an undercover operation.
