A park named “Uzbekistan” will be built in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, while a park named “Azerbaijan” will be established in Tashkent. This was announced by Yusuf Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), during a panel session titled “Azerbaijan – Uzbekistan: Vector of Economic Cooperation,” held within the framework of the IV Tashkent International Investment Forum.

He stated that the parks are expected to become a symbol of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.

“In early June, the mayor of Tashkent and my close friend, Shavkat Umurzakov, paid a working visit to Baku. As part of the visit, the site for the future ‘Uzbekistan’ Park, located in the White City district, was inspected,” Abdullayev said.

He also announced that an Azerbaijani delegation is expected to pay a return visit to Tashkent at the end of this month. During that visit, the area designated for the “Azerbaijan” Park is also expected to be inspected. However, when QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the khokimiyat (city administration), and it was confirmed that land has not yet been allocated for the park and no official decision has been made.

“This can become a cultural bridge between the two capitals,” Abdullayev added.

It is worth noting that in April 2021, Uzbekistan announced plans to build a school in Karabakh, liberated from occupation, as a gift to Azerbaijan. Two years later, on August 23, 2023, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan inaugurated the Mirzo Ulugbek School in Karabakh. Furthermore, graduates of this school are eligible for admission to universities in Uzbekistan without entrance exams.
