Meteorological worker stranded in mountains evacuated by helicopter (video)

A meteorological station worker who was stranded in the Ugam-Chatkal mountain range was successfully evacuated by helicopter with the assistance of the military. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported the incident.

According to the statement, on January 5, the leadership of UzHydromet informed the Ministry of Defense that an employee working at the Oyg‘aing high-altitude meteorological observation station, located in a hard-to-reach area with complex terrain in the Ugam-Chatkal mountain range, was in serious condition and required evacuation with the support of the Air Force.

The ministry said that rescue operations were carried out at night using an on-duty search-and-rescue helicopter of the Air Force. The employee was promptly transported to a medical facility in Chirchiq, where timely medical assistance was provided by doctors.

It is worth noting that in September 2025, an Uzbek national who had gone hiking in the mountains of Turkestan region in Kazakhstan fell into a gorge and died.
