Entrances to Samarkand will be closed (video)

On April 3-5, entrances to the city of Samarkand will be temporarily closed due to the first "Central Asia - European Union" summit, according to the Road Traffic Safety Service.  

During the road closures, a detour has been organized for vehicles passing through the region.  

"A special flyer has been developed for this purpose, and information about the established detours can be obtained by scanning the QR code on it," the report states.  

The regional Internal Affairs Directorate has also urged those planning to visit Samarkand on these days to postpone their visit if possible.  

Additionally, to ensure security during the summit, vehicle movement will be temporarily restricted on the following streets of Samarkand:  

- Ibn Sino  
- Afrosiyob  
- Dahbed  
- Bustonsaroy  
- University Alley  
- Namozgoh  
- Sadriddin Aini  
- Shabod  
- Usta Umar Jurakulov  
- Registan  
- Beruniy  
- Mirzo Ulugbek  

"Ambulance and emergency services will be allowed to move on these streets as an exception," the report adds.  

For your information, the Central Asia-European Union summit will be held in Samarkand on April 3-4. European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Uzbekistan to participate in the summit. The event will be chaired by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and will also be attended by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. On April 4-5, the first Samarkand Climate Forum will take place at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center. The forum is expected to be attended by the leaders of Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the European Union, the UN, international financial institutions, and leading environmental organizations.
