Preventive inspector detained for bribery in Samarkand

A preventive inspector detained for bribery in Pastdargom District of Samarkand Region has been sentenced to three years, 11 months, and one day of restriction of liberty. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the court ruling.

According to the documents, the defendant had been working as a preventive inspector at the Pastdargom District Department of Internal Affairs. Abusing his official position, on May 3, 2025, he promised not to forward to court case materials collected in connection with a citizen identified as J.T. leaving an insulting post on Instagram about traffic police officers. The materials were under the jurisdiction of an оперативный officer of the district police department, identified as R.J.

In return, the inspector told J.T. that he would need to pay $2,000 initially and later an additional $800, thereby deceiving him. On September 3, 2025, at around 4:20 p.m., the inspector was detained while receiving the previously agreed $800 through a relative near a car wash facility located in the district.

The case was heard on December 3, 2025, by the Pastdargom District Criminal Court. The defendant was found guilty under Article 25 and Article 168, Part 3, Clause “v” (fraud), as well as Article 28 and Article 211, Part 1 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.

Under the court’s verdict, the defendant was banned from working in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system for two years and sentenced to three years, 11 months, and one day of restriction of liberty.

It is worth noting that earlier, a chief specialist of the Housing and Public Utilities and Beautification Department of Uchtepa District Administration in Tashkent was detained with $3,000 in bribe money.
