Nearly 160,000 Uzbek citizens have been removed from the registry of individuals monitored by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the “Dunyo” news agency reported.
According to the report, over 70,000 of them had regularized their legal status with migration authorities, while the rest were removed due to leaving Russia within the permitted period or for other reasons.
During the first nine months of 2025, Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions and consular offices in Russia processed 50,172 requests from citizens. Assistance was provided to 3,246 individuals regarding employment or labor disputes. Negotiations were held with 276 employers, and 58,677 new job opportunities were identified. For 381 citizens, salaries totaling $309,918 were recovered from unscrupulous employers, while 44 potential employers were vetted for reliability.
Additionally, 1,323 citizens had passports that had been unlawfully confiscated returned to them. Financial and material support totaling $125,303 was provided to 552 individuals in difficult circumstances.
From January 1 to September 10 this year, a migration amnesty was implemented in Russia. Uzbek consulates provided information to citizens, advising them to regularize their legal status by applying to migration authorities or leaving the country within the set deadlines. During this period, 84,409 Uzbek citizens sought guidance on legalizing their status.
Mobile outreach events were organized at large enterprises and residential areas, totaling 221 meetings with approximately 20,000 Uzbeks participating. In addition, consular offices accepted documents for 5,758 citizens to obtain foreign passports as part of passportization efforts.
Assistance was also provided to 17,479 citizens, including 1,929 individuals held in special detention facilities of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, helping them return home after losing their documents or money. Furthermore, plane tickets were purchased for 1,560 citizens without grounds to stay in Russia to facilitate their return.
It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously signed a law expanding the grounds for terminating labor contracts with foreign workers.
