On the eve of the holiday, the President pardoned 522 prisoners

5162President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree titled "On Pardoning a Group of Individuals Serving Sentences Who Sincerely Regret Their Actions and Are Determined to Reform." This was reported by the President's press service.
Under the decree, 522 individuals who were serving sentences, sincerely regretted their actions and resolutely embarked on the path to recovery were pardoned by Article 109, Clause 23 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Of the pardoned individuals, 159 were fully released from their main punishment, 303 were granted parole before completing their sentences, and the sentences of 60 individuals were commuted to lighter punishments.
Among those pardoned, 19 are foreign citizens, 56 are women, 25 are men over 60 years of age, 233 are young people (including one minor), and 27 are individuals who participated in activities of banned organizations.
To assist the pardoned individuals in reintegrating with their families and loved ones, adapting to social life, engaging in productive work, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and finding a rightful place in society, relevant instructions have been issued to the responsible ministries and agencies.
It should be noted that 426 convicts were previously pardoned on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
