A citizen in Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan, has set a national record by paying 2.2 billion soums in alimony for one child in a single day. This was reported to QALAMPIR.UZ by Farrukh Toshpulatov, the press secretary of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement.

According to Toshpulatov, based on a ruling by the Nukus Interdistrict Court for Civil Affairs, it was ordered to collect alimony from a debtor identified as A.B. in favor of his ex-spouse for the maintenance of their child until the child reaches adulthood.

The enforcement document was received by the Nukus city department of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau, and state bailiffs initiated enforcement proceedings. During the process, the debtor visited the department and voluntarily expressed a desire to pay the entire alimony amount in advance, covering the period until the child turned 18.

The debtor was then informed by enforcement officials that, according to Resolution No. 808 of the Cabinet of Ministers—"On the procedure for advance payment of alimony and the conclusion of a pledge agreement to secure alimony obligations"—it is permissible to make full advance payments. The total amount due over the next 13 years was calculated at 2,270,812,000 soums.

Following this, the recipient of the alimony visited the Nukus city office of the Internal Revenue Service and issued a receipt confirming receipt of the full payment from her former spouse.

The Internal Revenue Service explained the unusually high payment amount by noting that, according to the court’s ruling, alimony must be calculated based on the debtor's monthly income. Due to the debtor’s high salary, the advance total amounted to a record figure.

As confirmed by the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement, this is the largest alimony payment ever recorded in its history.

It is worth recalling that earlier, employees of the Bureau in the Andijan region reportedly staged a “special operation,” pretending to be a woman, in order to collect funds from a delinquent alimony payer.
