Suspects detained in Navoi for stealing infokiosk

Young men who stole an infokiosk device in Navoi city of the Navoi region have been detained, the regional department of Internal Affairs reported. 

According to the report, on the night of August 5 this year, three young men aged 25, 23, and 21, wearing masks, stole a money transfer device located in the “Taraqqiyot” neighborhood, using a car without license plates.

It was revealed that the device contained 5 million 263 thousand soums in cash. During search operations, the regional department of Internal Affairs detained the three young men while they were attempting to commit another theft.

A criminal case has been initiated against them under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigative proceedings are currently underway. 

It is worth noting that earlier, final-year university students were caught while attempting to steal 177 million soums from an ATM in the Syrdarya region. The case was reviewed by the Mirzaabad district criminal court. According to the court’s verdict, two male students were found guilty under Article 169, part 2 (theft) of the Criminal Code and were sentenced to four years of imprisonment.
