Update on the condition of Mubashir Ahmed

Alisher Tursunov, founder of the information and analytical portal “Azon Global” and known by the pseudonym Mubashir Ahmed, is currently being held at the central pre-trial detention center of the State Security Service. According to a report by “Azon Global,” he is in good health.

The portal stated that on May 20, Tursunov was allowed to meet with his brother. Following the visit, his brother confirmed that Tursunov had no complaints regarding the treatment by the investigator or other officials involved in the case.

“The judge expressed gratitude to all those who supported and prayed for him,” the report noted.

For context, a criminal case has been initiated against Alisher Tursunov under Article 244¹ (Preparation, storage, distribution, or display of materials threatening public security and public order) and Article 244³ (Illegal preparation, storage, import, or distribution of religious materials) of the Criminal Code. He has been placed under arrest as a precautionary measure, and the investigation is currently ongoing.

It should be recalled that earlier reports stated that Tursunov was taken from his home in the Bahçeşehir district of Istanbul as a suspect. Shortly afterward, social media reports emerged claiming he had been deported from Turkey to Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan later officially confirmed his deportation.
