Earlier, QALAMPIR.UZ received a complaint about raids and arbitrary arrests of Uzbek students in Egypt. It was stated that despite having their documents in order, the students were being forcibly taken from their homes. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Egypt provided information on the situation.

It is noted that additional visits and discussions were carried out by embassy representatives at the relevant police stations in Nasr City, Cairo. As of today, May 13, it was revealed that 5 Uzbeks, among many foreigners, were detained for violating the rules of stay in the country.

At the same time, 1 Uzbek was released from the temporary detention center after presenting clear documents confirming his legal presence in Egypt.

“It is emphasized that the status of the remaining citizens will be assessed and a decision will be made in accordance with the established procedure within the framework of local legislation,” the message said.

In order to ensure the provision of appropriate legal assistance, the Embassy recommended informing it without delay about citizens detained during such inspection activities. To do so, you can contact the Embassy at +20233364516, +20233361723, or at the address @shtabegypt on Telegram.

In this regard, Uzbeks were asked to strictly follow the rules of stay in Egypt. They were urged to always carry their identity documents, residence permit (iqama), or student cards (university, institute, etc.) during their stay and movement in the country.

We would like to remind you that a person previously on the international wanted list was detained in Egypt and extradited to Uzbekistan.
