Today, March 7, heavy snowfall led to the temporary closure of Kamchyk Pass to vehicle traffic. Nearly a thousand people stranded at the pass have been accommodated in hotels, according to a report from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The ministry stated that those housed in hotels are staying in the city of Angren. A total of 790 men, 130 women, and 38 children are receiving support services, with 19 canteens and 4 hotels assisting.

Efforts are underway to address the situation. Collaborating with the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), Road Traffic Patrol, and “Qamchiqavtoyo’l” service employees, teams are clearing snow, preventing ice formation, and spreading a sand-salt mixture on the roads. Rescue workers are monitoring the area and assisting stranded drivers and their vehicles.

In response to the halted transport movement in Kamchyk Pass, a free train service has been organized for the “Angren–Kokand” route. The train departed at 9:00 PM from Angren's main railway station.

Additionally, the Meteorological Service announced an avalanche risk in the Kamchyk  Pass region (between 228-253 km on the A-373 Tashkent-Osh highway) starting from 6:00 PM today.

Moreover, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has set up warming stations to assist passengers enduring the unfavorable conditions in Kamchyk  Pass.
