Quva District governor disciplined for insulting farmer

The governor of Quva District in Uzbekistan's Fergana Region, X. Umarov, has received a formal reprimand after insulting a farmer. The announcement was made by Sherzod Saparov, Press Secretary to the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency.

According to the statement, videos circulating on social media showing the governor's conduct during a meeting with farmers sparked widespread public discussion. The footage allegedly showed behavior that violated the code of ethics for civil servants.

Following the incident, the Anti-Corruption Agency, within its authority, submitted a recommendation to the Fergana regional administration requesting an internal investigation and a legal assessment in accordance with applicable legislation. Based on the findings of the investigation, Quva District Governor X. Umarov was issued a formal disciplinary reprimand.

"The Agency will continue its efforts to ensure strict compliance with the code of ethics for public officials, promote high professional and ethical standards in the civil service, and ensure that violations of the law are met with appropriate accountability," the statement said.

Earlier, Muzrabot District Governor Abdulla Mamatqulov also received a formal disciplinary reprimand after insulting and humiliating farmers during a meeting concerning the district's grain procurement targets.
