Tico driver dies in Fergana after Nexia overtakes into oncoming lane

A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Fergana region on May 5, when a Nexia-3 vehicle collided head-on with a Tico, resulting in the death of the Tico driver. The incident was reported by the regional Road Safety Department.

According to initial reports, the accident took place at around 16:00 on the 14th kilometer of the Fergana–Vodil–Hamzaobod highway, in Fergana district. A Nexia-3 driven by a 24-year-old man attempted to overtake another vehicle and entered the opposite lane, where it collided with a Tico being driven by a 64-year-old man who was traveling in the correct direction.

As a result of the collision, the Tico driver died at the scene. Two passengers sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

It should be recalled that earlier, a pedestrian struck by a Lacetti in Tashkent’s Yakkasaroy district also succumbed to injuries in hospital. In that case, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code, and the driver was taken into custody.
