It was announced on September 9, during a videoconference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the implementation of education reforms and upcoming tasks, that a new ’’1+5’’ bachelor’s degree format will be introduced for preschool teachers with secondary special education.
’’We are creating all the necessary conditions to increase coverage, but kindergartens also need fresh approaches, new methodologies, and teachers with corresponding qualifications’’, the President stated.
It was stated that although 118,000 preschool teachers improved their qualifications over the summer, this is still insufficient.
Therefore, starting from the new academic year, pedagogical universities will launch the ’’1+5’’ (one day of study, five days of work) bachelor’s program for preschool teachers with secondary special education. This will enable nearly 10,000 highly qualified specialists to enter kindergartens every year.
The lack of a unified approach to the quality of education in private and public kindergartens was also highlighted. In response, each region will establish ’’New generation’’ kindergartens beginning next year to provide methodological support for enhancing the pedagogical skills of preschool teachers. Relevant authorities were instructed to design the ’’New generation’’ kindergarten project with innovative solutions, avoiding outdated and uniform practices.
Earlier, during the same videoconference, it was established that preschool enrollment in every district of Uzbekistan must not fall below 80 percent. To achieve this, regional and district governors were tasked with identifying vacant land and putting it up for auction, as well as working jointly with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education to determine where kindergartens could be built on available spaces within schools and preschools.
