Marriage registration no longer requires medical certificate

Starting from December 1 of this year, civil registry offices (FHDYo) in Uzbekistan will no longer require couples to present medical examination results when registering their marriage. This is stipulated in the presidential decree adopted yesterday, September 8, titled ’’on additional measures to improve the system of public services and radically reduce bureaucratic procedures in the sector’’.
The decree sets out the following main objectives:
- to increase the number of services provided through the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services (my.gov.uz) and public service centers to 900 by 2028;
- to raise the number of proactive public services to 53 and composite public services to 74.
According to the decree, starting from December 1, 2025, the following requirements will be abolished through the introduction of interagency information exchange:
- The requirement for registry offices to demand medical examination results from individuals registering their marriage;
- The requirement for registry offices to request a court decision when forming a record of divorce in cases where the marriage is dissolved by court ruling;
- The requirement to indicate the vehicle owner’s address in the registration certificate of motor vehicles.
